![]() It’s about the Holocaust – it’s heavy viewing. Uh, it’s pretty grim! That is literally the single grimmest plot synopsis I have ever heard. But just so you know what you’re getting yourself into if you decide to go see it, please read the first sentence of this paragraph again. It won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film this year, and by many accounts, the Academy got this one right. Opening this week is SON OF SAUL, the haunting Holocaust drama about a Jewish man who digs graves for the Nazis in exchange for the postponement of his execution. ![]() ![]() I should probably write something about the ones we’re actually showing, because they all won Oscars too. But whatever! We didn’t even show that movie here at The Screening Room. But it did get six awards – deservedly so – in all the technical categories it was nominated for, so I suppose that’s something. I will be writing my congressman about that. So! The Oscars happened! I didn’t watch this year, but I heard that Mad Max: Fury Roaddidn’t win Best Picture, and frankly, that’s the only news that matters to me.
